Hybrid Workflows

Planning and Visualization

The production had acces to a real aircraft and authorization to film at a single airport location, which we were tasked with transforming to represent five distinct airports. This required meticulous planning and surveying to ensure continuity and authenticity both within the cockpit, as viewed through the LED wall, and outside the aircraft, particularly when scenes involved characters transitioning from inside to outside the plane. Our detailed pre-production efforts ensured that each airport setting was convincingly distinct, maintaining the narrative’s believability across different geographic locations while working within the constraints of a single physical setting.

VR Visualization

For a series of intricate cockpit scenes, our team employed VR visualization to enhance creative decision-making and technical planning. This approach allowed directors to explore various visual effects within the cockpit and against the backdrop of an animated sky on a large LED wall. The immersive VR setup was crucial in selecting the optimal VFX techniques, such as the transition to volumetric clouds for enhanced realism

The VR tool also proved invaluable for planning the series’ landing sequences, offering a virtual platform to test camera placements and shot angles. This pre-visualization ensured that each scene maintained the illusion of the LED wall, seamlessly integrating with the narrative. Our use of VR technology in pre-production highlights our commitment to leveraging cutting-edge tools to solve complex VFX challenges efficiently.
